This species is distinguished from Salmo ciscaucasicus by the following characters: body depth about 21-26% SL (vs. 15-20%); head depth about 68-75% HL (vs. 59-65%); interorbital distance about 37-48% HL (30-42% HL) (Ref. 59043).
