Short description

Espinas dorsales (total): 6 - 7; Radios blandos dorsales (total): 7-8; Espinas anales 1; Radios blandos anales: 9 - 12. Gill rakers on first lower gill arch 12-15. Midlateral scales 33-36.
Predominantly carnivorous. Frequently caught in estuaries and enclosed coastal lakes. Preyed on by larger, juvenile of commercial species occurring in estuarine nursery habitats.
