Short description Morfologia | Morfometria

This species is distinguished from its congeners, except P. monachal, by the presence of type 3 gill rakers on the anterior edge of ceratobranchials 2-4 (vs. type 1b gill rakers along the anterior edge of ceratobranchials 2-4). Differs from members of the Leptorhaphis species group by the following set of characters: inner row of dentary and premaxilla with 7-10 weakly tricuspid teeth; 6 or 7 pores in preopercular portion of preoperculo-mandibular lateral line canal; single ossification of the scleral cartilage (posterior sclerosis). Colouration: horizontal dashed line of 15-17 small dark brown spots extending along the posterior two-thirds of the body; no black spot at the base of the anterior part of the dorsal fin (Ref. 128004).

Biologia     Glossario (es. epibenthic)

This species has highly restricted distribution, prefers spring-fed pools and marshy areas, with still-water or relatively slow current (Ref. 128004).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = No PD50 data   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00813 (0.00354 - 0.01865), b=3.16 (2.97 - 3.35), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Resilienza (Ref. 120179):  Alto, tempo minimo di raddoppiamento della popolazione meno di 15 mesi (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
