Short description
Morfología | Morfometría
Espinas dorsales (total): 7; Radios blandos dorsales (total): 9; Espinas anales 1; Radios blandos anales: 8. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following characters: all cephalic sensory-canal pores absent; dorsal/anal fin-ray formula 9/8; unbranched pectoral-fin rays 13-14; with fifth pelvic-fin ray and 10-17% of fourth ray; body crossed by 5 narrow, white, vertical lines separating wider dark bars and with the dark bar under posterior half of second dorsal fin wider than orbit diameter (Ref. 123827).
Collected from deep crevices on steep outer-reef slopes or walls exposed to current and clear oceanic waters; 4 of the 5 specimens were collected from depths of 50 m or greater. It is probably more widespread in the region in similar habitats (Ref. 123827).
