Taggstrålar i ryggfenan (totalt): 9; Mjukstrålar i ryggfenan (totalt): 28-33; Taggstrålar i analfenan 3; Mjukstrålar i analfenan: 23 - 26. This species of the red-fin Decapterus group is distinguished by the following set of characters: tip of upper jaw not hooked; opercular membrane entriely without serration; posterior tip of pectoral fin usually extending beyond a vertical through origin of second dorsal fin; gill rakers 25-31; curved part of lateral line with 54-62 cycloid scales, body depth 19.4-22.5 % SL pectoral-fin length 25.7-30.6 % SL (Ref. 94089).
