Short description
Morfología | Morfometría
Espinas dorsales (total): 10; Radios blandos dorsales (total): 15; Espinas anales 3; Radios blandos anales: 7; Vértebra: 26. This species is distinguished by the following characters: D X,15; pectoral-fin rays 13, all are unbranched; lateral line complete, tubed scales 29-30; scales dorsally on head extending to the anterior portion of interorbital, but well short of level of posterior nostrils; maxilla or chin scaleless; body depth 2.6 in SL; posterior margin of preopercle with 20 tiny serrae; ventral margin of preopercle with 3 antrorse spines; fourth dorsal spine longest, 2.4 in HL; caudal fin is slightly emarginated; prominent bands in life entirely pale in alcohol (116682).
Collected by handnet from the ceiling of a cave at a depth of 63 m (Ref. 116682). Included in the aquarium trade (Japan and through Singapore (Ref. 123579).
