Etymology: Antigonia: Daughter of Oedipus and Jocasta, who defied her uncle, king Creon, by performing funeral rites over her brother Polynices and was condemned to be immured in a cave (Ref. 45335).

Short description Morfologia | Morfometria

Spine dorsali (totale): 8; Raggi dorsali molli (totale): 32-33; Spine anali 3; Raggi anali molli: 28 - 29. Can be diagnosed from other species by having the following characters: 19-20 gill rakers; dorsal-fin rays VIII 32-33; anal-fin rays III 28-29; pectoral-fin rays I 13; caudal fin rays iv 12 iii; body elongated oval, upper and lower profiles without pronounced angles, upper anterior profile moderately steep with pronounced notch above eye and shallow notch in front of the beginning of dorsal fin; upper posterior profile almost straight, lower profile archlike; head length 2.4 times in SL, mouth slit subvertical; lips narrow; descending part of praemaxillare straight; and orbit diameter 2.5-2.8 times in HL (Ref. 78445).
