Spine dorsali (totale): 3; Raggi dorsali molli (totale): 24; Spine anali 3; Raggi anali molli: 14 - 15; Vertebre: 26. This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: palatine tooth patches inserted medially behind vomerine tooth patch; 16 circumpeduncular scales; upper part of body with dark longitudinal stripe extending from middle of upper lip through eye above anterior lateral line to mid-upper caudal-fin rays (Ref. 89094).

Specimens of this species were collected in 22 m depth at the bottom of a current- swept channel with strong coastal influences (it has relatively low visibility and otherwise silty conditions). Individuals were associated with low rocky outcrops covered with sea fans (Ref. 89094).
