背鰭 (合計): 14-18; 臀鰭: 18 - 22; 脊つい: 33 - 37. Differs from all species of Cynolebias by having the upper jaw ventrally displaced (Ref. 97357). Snout gently pointed with lower jaw not elongated; scaled anal-fin base; caudal and pectoral fins rounded (Ref. 40938).
Inhabits river floodplain (Ref. 97357). Bottom spawner, 5-7 months incubation. Is very difficult to maintain in aquarium (Ref. 27139).
