Known from the Ganges, Brahmaputra, Mahanadi, Godavary and Krishna river systems (Ref. 41236), Chilka Lake (Ref. 29108) and Bay of Bengal (Ref. 45255). Found in Maharashtra (Ref. 43634). Present in Buxa, Adma and Jayanti rivers (Ref. 89719). Most popular "Khoira" in West Bengal for its good taste though small and spiny. (Ref. 33273). Also Ref. 188, 4832.
