Distinguished from other congeners by the combination of the following characters: caudal vertebrae 12; absence of mark on side of head; dorsal-fin spines 15; dorsal-fin rays 10-11; anal-fin rays 9; snout not robust; 24-25 proximal radials on dorsal-fin base; narrow ectopterygoid; absence of depression on head; 13 proximal radials on anal-fin base; arm of epibranchial 1long; arms of epibranchial 2 with two short tubular processes; rib pairs 10; scales in longitudinal row 25-26; body depth 47.3-51.2% SL; last dorsal-fin spine length 14.2-16.6% SL; last anal-fin spine length 14.3-15.6% SL; and arms of vertical trunk bar 7 with the same width (Ref. 79631).
