This species is distinguished by the following characters: interorbital space narrowly concave; no obvious sexual dimorphism; snout distinct; tip of palatine bone protruding into mouth; non-serrate gill rakers on upper limb 3-6; caudal fin with a pair of small, black submarginal blotches; the dorsal and anal fins each with series of black spots (Ref. 126082).
