Etymology: Geophagus: Greek, gea = the earth + Greek, phagein = to eat (Ref. 45335); parnaibae: Named for the río Parnaíba basin where the species occurs.
Environment: milieu / climate zone / depth range / distribution range
Freshwater; benthopelagic; pH range: 6.5 - 7.6. Tropical; 24°C - 31°C (Ref. 57445)
South America: Rio Parnaiba drainage in Brazil.
Size / Weight / Age
Maturity: Lm ?  range ? - ? cm
Max length : 7.6 cm SL male/unsexed; (Ref. 57445)
soft rays: 7 - 8.
