Short description Morphology | Morphometrics

Dorsal spines (total): 1; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7. Abdomen almost completely naked, except for a single posterior complex of plates consisting of a well-developed preanal plate, usually bordered by 3 polygonal plates. These plates are connected to the thoracic plates by 1 or 2 small squarish platelets facing the base of the pelvic-fin spine. Tip of snout with a globular protuberance of naked skin. Pectoral fins reaching slightly beyond the origin of pelvic fins.
