Remarks bstract A new species of Capoeta is described from the Araxes River basin in Armenia based on morphological characters and mtDNA COI sequences. Capoeta kaput sp. n. can be distinguished by a combination of the following characters: usually 9 branched rays in the dorsal fin, shape of the denticles on the last unbranched ray of the dorsal fin, shape of the pharyngeal bones and the masticatory plate of the basioccipital, the body and skull proportions. Capoeta kaput sp. n. is well identified by the sequences of COI barcoding fragment.
