Description: strongly resembles T. brauschi but has a longer head and snout; frontal profile straight, more concave in old males; caudal fin slightly rounded to subtruncate; males grow noticeably larger than females and possess substantially elongated rays in dorsal, anal and pelvic fins (Ref. 52307).

Coloration: body golden-brown, paler ventrally; centers of body scales somewhat darker than margins; rows of maculae or dots may be visible in dorsal and caudal fins; a dark bar runs from corner of mouth to eye, another from corner of mouth to throat; a few black markings may be present on the lower parts of cheeks and opercles in most specimens; in ripe males, lips, frontal areas and dorsum become dusky to black, lower parts of head and body become more yellowish, and several horizontal rows of pale blue dots are often present on body; additionally, ripe males often have red markings on cheeks, opercles and chest, and pelvic and pectoral fins become darker; a few yellow to orange egg spots present

in anal fin (Ref. 52307).
