Differs from other members of the Homaloptera ocellata group in possessing

only 2 large saddle blotches on the body, 1 posterior to head, 1 covering dorsal fin base (saddle blotches posterior to head and below dorsal fin maybe continuous on flank), rarely with 1 saddle blotch between dorsal fin and caudal fin; base of caudal dark; 5 simple, 12-13 branched pectoral fin rays; 75-77 lateral line scales (Ref. 55107).
