Diagnosis

Distinguished by the following characters: eye absent; mouth arched; upper lip smooth and without median incision; lower lip with shallow furrows and a wide median notch; no processus dentiformis; lower jaw without median notch; anterior nostril pierced in the front side of a tube; intestine with a bend immediately behind stomach; lateral line complete, extending to caudal base; anus is situated a small distance in front of anal fin origin; first branched pectoral ray elongated, extending beyond origin of anal fin; caudal fin deeply forked; body and fins whitish; and posterior chamber of air-bladder well developed (Ref. 7410).
