Diagnosis

Complete lateral line; 2 pairs of barbels, rostral barbel slightly shorter than the eye diameter, maxillary barbel much shorter; infraorbital process rudimentary or absent; caudal peduncle 1.3-1.6 times longer than deep; head relatively slender in lateral view, with a small hump on nape; cleithral spot present; 3 or 4 dark bluish stripes on side (Ref. 36949). In specimens larger than about 3 cm SL, stripes irregular anteriorly, sometimes zigzag shaped or dissociated into series of spots, spots of different series can be connected (Ref. 43281).
