Diagnosis

Description: Characterized by grey to brownish color; outer half of dorsal fin with blackish streaks and spots; irregular dark bands on caudal fin and whitish posterior margin; origin of dorsal fin above front edge of eye; strongly arched lateral line over pectoral fin and continuing to caudal peduncle relatively high on side of body; two large spines directed laterally and posteriorly on lacrimal; five blunt spines at rear margin of preopercle; depth of body 2.5-2.7 in SL (Ref. 90102).
