Diagnosis

Reddish-scarlet body; all fins deep reddish; 2 dusky, narrow stripes (reddish-brown in life), dorso- and midlateral. Upper part of first dorsal blackish; a small black spot between second dorsal spine and pectoral fin base. Center of caudal fin base with a black spot as large as pupil or slightly larger. Five predorsal scales. Preopercular ridge entire, weakly serrated edge. Body depth 2.5-2.6 in SL (Ref. 31450).
