With unique bulky appearance, with broken dorsal profile with a shallow hump on the nape. Distinguished from other species by having 1/2 6 1/2 scales in a transverse row (Ref 7304). Description: Dorsal rays: D1 IV-VI, D2 I,8-91/2, branched caudal rays 8+7, scales in a longitudinal row 31-34. Scales in a transverse row 1/2 6 1/2. Predorsal scales 11-13. Preopercular scales 3-4.
