Komentar | Known from Loíza, Cañabón & Cañaboncito Rivers, Guajataca, Loíza, Dos Bocas and La Plata Reservoirs since 1995-2007. It is an aggressive species capable of competing with other predators, such as largemouth bass, peacock bass, and Oscars. Hybridizes with various other cichlid species. A popular fish in the local aquarium trade. Sportfishermen complain that it is displacing peacock bass and largemouth bass, however it is becoming a popular sportfish itself. Frequently confused with A. labiatus. Ref: Grana, F., 2007 |
