Comments: | This Danubian species has recently been sampled in northern and central Italy waters where it is reported to be expanding (Ref. 45688). It could be a threat to the survival of the endemic species Barbus tyberinus (Bianco, 1995). Collected with B. graellsii in the low reaches of the rivers, intereferes with native barbel species (Ref. 94493). Most were medium sized specimens without signs of spawning, and were introduced probably during one of the more recent stockings (Ref. 45688). Ref: Bianco, P.G. and V. Ketmaier, 2001 |
