Comments: | Polyodon spathula is the latest fish introduced to Austria. Up to now its distribution is confined to carp ponds. There is no knowledge to date of the occurrence of this species in free water bodies. Although stocking of wild water bodies with foreign species is forbidden by local fisheries acts, there is no effective control. So one can be sure, that sooner or later P. spathula is set free somewhere (Ref. 13686). Ref: FAO, 1997 |
