| Symptoms: | The fungus affects the internal organs. Symptoms include weight loss, abnormal swimming behavior, protrusion of the eyes, appearance of dark spots in the skin, and damage of fin tissue. Also secondary bacterial infections can occur causing a red or pale skin patches. | |
| Treatments: | Treatment includes Phenoxyethanol added to the food which is also a good prophylactic measure. Results are not often satisfactory. The infected fish must be isolated. | |
| Prophylaxis: | Healthy environment and high quality food. | |
| Remarks: | There are no external symptoms at the first stage of this disease. The symptoms can only be observed in the later stages which is too late to save the infected fish. This infection is the opposite of the external fungus disease. | |
