Symptoms: | Loss of weight and equilibrium, darkening, exophthalmus, distended abdomen, haemorrhages on the wall of the swim bladder containing yellow to red slime, one chamber becoming completely shrunken. | |
Treatments: | Increasing the water temperature by a few degrees and soaking foodstuff in antibacterial drug (e.g. tetracycline) can sometimes improve the condition of the infected fish, although prognosis is not good (Ref. 41806). | |
Prophylaxis: | Optimal environmental condition and appropriate diet. | |
Remarks: | This disease is also a symptom of fish tuberculosis (Ref. 41806). | |
