Fish affected: Perca fluviatilis, Oncorhynchus mykiss. Some susceptible fish species after EHNV bath exposure are Macquaria australasica, Gambussia affinis, Bidyanus bidyanus and Galaxias olidus.  
Symptoms: Clinical signs are darkening of the skin, haemorrhages on the abdomen, gills, eye (around the pupil), and distended abdomen or dropsy. Pahtological signs include necrosis of the liver (with or without white spots), spleen, kidney and other tissues.  
Treatments:    
Prophylaxis: Quarantine incoming fish before adding to the population. Prevent movement of infected fish to farms. Reduction of bird activity in the farm site reduces the chance of exposure and spread. Optimal water quality,  
Remarks: Gross observation of the infection is impossible to detect.
