Comments

Known from Iberia; very local in middle and lower River Guadiana and one known locality in the River Guadalquivir. Considered endangered species (Ref. 6376), due to water pollution, habitat destruction and introduction of exotic fish predators (Ref. 11240, 79582). In 1979, it represented 18-29% of fishes sampled in River Degebe (tributary of Guadiana), but by 1990, representation went down to 0-3% (Ref. 32723). Also Ref. 556, 32724.

Status of threat: endangered (Ref. 79582).
