Known from Gulf of Thailand, off Samud Prakan; Tachin (Samut Sakhon) River; and Patani (Ref. 1632). Also found in the Chao Phraya River, however, occurrence in the Maeklong River, and the rivers of peninsular and southeast Thailand is uncertain (Ref. 26336); also from Rayong and Chon Buri (Ref. 37773). Regularly taken in inshore fisheries off Thailand (Ref. 9859). Threatened due to habitat loss and overfishing (Ref. 58784).

Status of threat: Critically Endangered (Ref. 58784).
