Comments

A single individual 111 cm TL) was caught in a fyke net set overnight (5-6 August 2016 while the river was in flood and was highly turbid, as is usual for the monsoon season) in about 1 m of water near the eastern shore of Phapheng Channel, the most easterly of the Khone Falls channels, It was previously included in list of species occurring in the area (Ref. 9497) but has not been observed in Ban Hang Khone until 2016.

Fishermen fishing at Khone Falls reported that some of them may have caught one or two specimens of P. canius, which were however much smaller in size (~50 cm TL) than the specimen recorded herein.

Its undifferentiated gut was approximately half-full of fragments of crabs and molluscs, with some detritus and sediment, with the food items dispersed along the length of its gut (Ref. 127983). Also Ref. 3478.
