The species in the area is considered as E. cf. sigillata (Ref. 113727). Reported to be one of the most abundant species among all cryptobentic fishes collected during three expeditions (Oct 2016, Apr-May 2017, Dec 2018-Jan 2019) to Vava'u, Tonga (Marta Gomez-Buckle, pers.comm. 9/2019; lapita@uw.edu).
