First records for the Pacific Coast of North America, from Washington to California. This species has been repeatedly reported in the Central North Pacific Ocean as far east as the Hawaiian Archipelago because of larval dispersal or by rafting with floating seaweed communities or marine debris. The Northeast Pacific records are associated with the Japanese tsunami marine debtis objects where the knifejaw was found in derelict vessels from Washington, Long Beach and Oregon, between Seal Rock and Ona beachy last March 22, 2013 and April 9, 2015, respectively. It was also discovered free living in the wild in California, Monterey Bay and Oregon in Dec 2014-Oct 2015 and Feb 23, 2015, respectively (Ref. 119174). |
