Found in the Cuatro Ciénegas basin (Ref. 50894). Museum: small marsh adjacent to the La Angostura Canal, approx. 4 miles S, 6 miles W of Cuatro Ciénegas, Coahuila, UMMZ 179620 (holotype, 2.04 cm SL, male) (Ref. 12960). Also Ref. 3881.

Status of threat: endangered; status declined since 1989. Criteria: 1,5 (http://fisc.er.usgs.gov/afs/) (Ref. 81264).
