Three specimens were collected by the late R. Lubbock from Cebu Strait (BMNH 1983.3.25.186-188) and these specimens appear to be more similar to P. stellatus than P. litus, and are most likely the juveniles of a species that has been photographed by Japanese divers in Cebu. Material is needed to determine whether the Cebu fish are conspecific with P. stellatus (Ref. 118104).
