Known from Rio Teles Pires, a tributary of the Rio Tapajós, downstream of the Sete Quedas rapids in Jacareacanga, Pará. Found along sandy beaches of the Rio Teles Pires in an area significantly affected by the construction of the Teles Pires hydroelectric dam. This hydropower project will pose adverse effect on the local fish fauna including the only known populations of this species (Ref. 111429). |
