Type locality, Km 30, Rio Curuá-Una, Pará, INPA 691 (holotype of Cichla pinima, 30 cm SL, adult male). Known from Lower Rio Tapajós, Rio Curuá-Una, lower Rio Xingu, lower Rio Tocantins, and Rio Capim (Fig. 75); uncertain localities in southern Amapá and Rio Arapiuns, introduced in Rio Paraguaçu in eastern Brazil, and probably elsewhere in northeastern Brazil (Ref. 57716). |
