Known only from rivers of the Middle Hills and Tarai (lowlands) of western (Karnali drainage) and central (Gandaki drainage) Nepal, in and at the base of foothills of the Himalayas (Ref. 55391). Also found in Sunkoshi, Gandaki, Trisuli, Narayani, Seti and Mahakali rivers (Ref. 85009).

State of Threat: Data deficient pristine rare ornamental species (Ref. 85009).
