Known from largest interconnected freshwater lakes of the rio Tramandai drainage. Recorded from lagoa Itapeva entering the mouth of rio Tres Forquilhas, in lagoa dos Quadros entering the mouth of rio Maquine, in lagoa Pinguela, lagoa do Peixoto and lagoa Caconde. Occurs sympatrically with O. bonariensis in lagoa Itapeva and lagoa dos Quadros and with O. bicudo in lagoa Caconde (Ref. 47314). |
