Widely distributed from Yangtze basin to the south, on the Hainan Island (Ref. 42924). Recorded from Huanggang, Hanjiang, Xijiang, Beijiang river drainages and the Zhu Jiang delta (Ref. 45323, 89718). Also known from Pingxiang, Jiangxi Province and from Nanduhe river drainage and Linshui river drainage in Hainan Province (Ref. 45323); and Bosten Lake (Ref. 41093). Probably the existence in southern Mekong basin in Yunnan is partly the result of introductions (Ref. 42924). Also Ref. 1739, 43281, 85799.
