Type locality of Mugil cephalus var. ramado: 'Nice' (Ref. 46206). Known along the Atlantic and Mediterranean coast and entering the lower reaches of rivers in the southern half of France (Ref. 40476). Also known from the Gironde basin (Ref. 51442) and the Mont Saint-Michel Bay (Ref. 38302). Its flesh is highly esteemed (Ref. 30578). Also Ref. 2804.
