Established in eastern and western northern Italy (Ref. 45688). Invasive in north, central, and southern Italy (Ref. 119201). Now dominant in rivers of the Padany-Venetian area, with cases in central and southern Italy. Interferes with and tends to eliminate the endemic G. benacensis (Ref. 94493).
