Found in Gulf watersheds (Firat Nehri, Dicle Nehri); Euphrates and Tigris river basins (Ref. 106151). Threatened by habitat loss, eutrophication, dam construction and water abstraction. Listed on Annex V of the EU Habitats Directive under the name Barbus spp. (Ref. 58342). Rare in Tigris (Ref. 96566). nEurTurk
