Occurs in marine offshore waters of the Alaskan Beaufort Sea (Ref. 28503). Ranges from southeast of Kivalina to Attu I. in the Aleutian chain and southeastern Alaska (Ref. 6793). In the Gulf of Alaska 60-70% are sinistral while in western Alaska, nearly all are dextral (Ref. 2850). In 1907, this species was reported as the most abundant and widely distributed flounder in Alaska (Ref. 11366). Commercially taken in the Gulf of Alaska (Ref. 28499).
