Known from the Mobile Bay ecoregion (Ref. 81264). Found only Coldwater Spring (Coosa River system), Calhoun County in Alabama. Common within extremely small range. Protected as a threatened species (Ref. 5723).

Status of threat: endangered; status same as 1989. Criteria: 1,5 (http://fisc.er.usgs.gov/afs/) (Ref. 81264).
