Known from the central Anatolian lake watersheds; Lake Gölçük, central Anatolia (Ref. 106151). Threatened due to habitat loss, eutrophication/pollution, construction of weirs/dams in rivers and water abstraction. Proposed for Annexes II and IV of the EU Habitats Directive, as a priority species (Ref. 58342). Reported to be only known from Lake Gölcük, and has not been found since the 1980s and is obviously extinct, following the stocking of the lake with alien fish species (Ref. 126233). Also Ref. 27139.

Status of threat: Critically Endangered (Ref. 58342). "nEurTurk."
