Found in the Elbe estuary (Ref. 51031). Native in eastern Germany in Elbe and Danube rivers and in Lakes Ammersee, Constanze, Chiemsee and Würmsee (Ref. 55947); introduced elsewhere, e.g. west of the Elbe and in Schleswig. Reguarly stocked in many waters for angling (Ref. 27368, 41851). Minimum size restriction of 35 cm in Schleswig-Holstein (Ref. 41851).
