Ranges from the Colville River Delta west and south to the central Alaskan Peninsula near Chignik (Ref. 27547). Found in the islands of St. Mathew, St. Lawrence I. and Nunivak (Ref. 27547). Occurs in the Yukon-Tanana drainage as far upstream as Big Eldorado Creek, near Fairbanks (Ref. 27547). Successfully introduced to St. Paul I., Pribilof Is.; accidentally introduced into Hood and Spenard lakes at the Anchorage airport in the early 50's and has thrived there (Ref. 27547). Abundant where present (Ref. 27547). Formerly very important in subsistence fisheries but is still used in some of the more remote villages (Ref. 27547). Also Ref. 5723, 6876, 10280, 11366, 119194.
