Found in the Mekong basin. Although common around Stung Treng, it does not seem to occur in the Great Lake (Ref. 12693). In northern Cambodia (Stung Treng-Kratie), this species migrates upstream in this river stretch in November-December and downstream in April-June (Ref. 37770). Both upstream and downstream migrations are associated with full moon (Ref. 37770). Also Ref. 43281.
