Reported to be endemic to the western Greece district from the River Thiamis including Epirus southward to Ionian Peloponnese (absent in eastern Peloponnese and apparently in the River Evrotas in Lakonia) (Ref. 31730). Locally abundant and quite widespread, but most small streams are dry in summer, posing threat to several populations (Ref. 59043). Also Ref. 12255, 26100.
